West Norfolk in Bloom 2009
Phil Barrington joins the judging panel for the West Norfolk in Bloom photography competition in June 2009. Phil is excited to be part of the panel because of the competition’s strong theme; specifically looking towards the future by reaching out to all groups within our communities and enjoying the diversity which can be found – community cohesion being an issue that is coincidentally an integral part of Mr. Barrington’s planned artwork for 2010.
Are you an amateur photographer living in West Norfolk?
Entrants, of no age-limit, must be amateur photographers residing within West Norfolk. Photographs must be the entrant’s own original work and previously unpublished, ideally taken within the past two years.
Competition Brief
The theme of this year’s Britain in Bloom campaign and related photography competition is ‘local roots’, which aims to celebrates past/present/future local and cultural heritage.
Possible interpretations of the theme:
Community: West Norfolk is fortunate to benefit from a wide and diverse community, with every individual bringing influence from their past and aspirations for their future to the local environment. A winning shot could show how members of our local community engage and participate in life in West Norfolk (consent must be obtained by the photographer for each person included in the frame, consent forms need not be sent in with your entry but must be made available if requested).
Landscape: The borough has a diverse range of landscapes from urban parks and rolling fields to stunning seascapes. A successful entrant may submit a stunning image that captures the local scenery found in West Norfolk.
Heritage: West Norfolk has a wealth of historic buildings, landmarks and features from individual ancient walls to Renaissance buildings. A successful images could demonstrate how our local heritage is both beautiful and represents the past and the future of West Norfolk.
